The European Commission has released a Staff Working Document on Youth Indicators. The document outlines a series of 40 indicators in the youth field. The indicators cover all the fields of action of the EU Youth Strategy and further enhance the Commission's evidence-based approach to youth policy.

In the field of education, indicators such as the rate of early school leavers are complemented with rather competence-related indicators such as reading, maths and science test scores. In other areas, such as culture & creativity or participation, new indicators had to be found and will be provided by an upcoming Eurobarometer survey.
